Comparison of poems.In this introduction I am intending to comp ar and contrast two poems.The poems I am contrasting be called capital of the United Kingdom and Composed UponWestminster. These two poems are indite in the 19th century. Thewriters had the same ideas about the two poems. The poems are bothabout capital of the United Kingdom. The writers both give a different office of London. TheLondon poem is written by William Blake in 1757-1827. The Westminsterpoem written by William Wordsworth in 1770 1850Blakes representation of London is bleak. The title London is shortand gets straight to the point. The first rhyme is a description ofthe city, streets, rivers and the mess in the city. The first linecreates a feeling exchangeable London is being owned. It is described likehell. The cite is I wonder thro for each one chattered streets, near werethe chartered Thames does flow. Blake has a sinister view of London.He describes it like a prison. The second two lines inverse 1 is aboutthe people. The quote is and label in e genuinely face I meet, marks of weakness marks of woe. These two lines mean when Blake sees people onthe streets of London they take up marks on their faces. The last quotemeans that the people are weak, have grief and sorrow. The imageryBlake creates in the first verse is of the drop streets and theflowing Thames.The second verse is about the people. In every holler of every man inevery infants cry of fear the imagery the second verse suggests pain.Infants cry of mental torture mind spoilt manacles. There is a lotof repetition. In the second verse Blake emphasises on the wordevery to really put the pain across.The third verse is about the institutions and culture. Blake says thechimney sweepers cry. ... ...s like heaven.Wordsworth is in a dream. He is describing London as romantic.The similarities both of these poems are that Blake says marks ofweakness marks of woe. Wordsworth says mighty heart. Blake saysblackening church, ha pless soldier, palace walls. Wordsworth saysships, towers, domes, theatres, temples. Blake says chimney sweepersand blackening church. Wordsworth says smokeless air. Blake sayschartered Thames does flow and Wordsworth says the river glideth athis own sweet will.Blake says midnight streets and Wordsworth says valleys rocks orhills. Blake says midnight and Wordsworth says satiny and glittery. Healso says morning. Blake says cry in every man and Wordsworth says cool so deep.The poem that gives me a better description of London is Blakes pointof view. He has a simple structure and his description is verydescriptive.
